A belated Happy New Year from Data Protection Education.
We wanted to let you know that the initial tranche of new tools and content will be available on the Knowledge Bank from Monday 14th January.
This will include the following tools:
- Subject Access Log
- Data Breach Log
- Best Practice Areas, including:
- CCTV
- Sharing data with the NHS
- Taking work out of school
- Document redaction
- Photos and media
- Getting started with the “Commitment to Compliance”
- Information classification
Each best practice area will incorporate an overview with key points, relevant documents and also a best practice checklist for you to help monitor status and progression across each area.
There will also be revisions to some documents including:
- Data Protection Policy
- Clear Desk Policy
- SAR and Breach Procedures
We have a plan for far more regular updates to the Knowledge Bank and over the next term, not only will there be additional content added weekly, but we will be introducing our record of processing tool, document manager, events booking and support ticketing system directly on the knowledge bank.
Communications
We are also launching a blog, to keep you up to date with what’s new both on the Knowledge Bank, but also with relevant news from the Information Commissioner and other sources.
We will also be publishing a monthly email newsletter/digest to school managers with a minimum of monthly updates, though these may be more frequent as we bring important new developments online.
We also have a new member of our team Kalina Voyvodova who will be joining us later this month to help plan and deliver our micro-consultations - remote, 30 and 60-minute sessions, to help you understand and use our tools and content better. We’ll be using these sessions to push out information on tools and best practice.
Events
We are going to be holding some regional events in February and March. These will be half-day workshops to cover the new tools, content and processes as well as to introduce changes to the service level agreement for next year and beyond. We’ll send out notifications when they are available in your area and you will be able to reserve spaces directly on the Knowledge Bank.
Finally, a reminder that Data Protection Education Ltd is your data protection officer, there is no individual named contact as we have a multi-person core DPO team. All you need to add to documentation, or when registering the DPO with the Information Commissioner is@
